Ruth and Ian Houston moved into Mulroy in November 2013.  After 14 years of living in Kent and commuting to London we were ready for a change.  We love the Highlands and when we saw Mulroy we fell in love with it.  Now we are happy to welcome you to share the comfort and views that Mulroy provides as it looks out over the town of Fort William.

Mulroy

In 1901, a local builder built the house for his daughter and her new husband.  They and their daughters lived in the house for most of the century before a new family took it over.  We are amazed that in over 100 years we are only the third family to live in this beautiful home.

The house is named after the battle of Mulroy (Maol Ruadh in Gaelic) that was fought on 4 August 1688.  The MacDonells defeated the Mackintoshes in what was the last battle fought between Scottish clans.  The site of the battle is marked by a cairn and is near the village of Roybridge .
